I am concerned about the 'compatibility patch' notice I'm getting on my Sprint LG G4. I communicated with LG about this and their technical support agent said the patch is definitely not from LG and that I should call my carrier, Sprint to see if it's something Sprint is sending to my phone. Upgrading to an Xbox 360 doesn't mean you have to lose out on playing your favorite Xbox games. The Xbox 360 just needs a hard disk drive and a quick update to make it compatible with first-generation Xbox titles. Updating is easy, with three different options available as of 2009.
Download the update with Xbox Live. Turn on your Xbox 360 by pressing the circle button on the front of your console. Activate your Xbox Live account--if it isn't your default account--by selecting it from the list of users on the main dashboard screen. You do not need a Gold membership to get the free update.
Start the process. Put an original Xbox title into the console, which will begin the process automatically. According to Xbox support's website, once the process begins, it must be completed. Any future updates will be installed automatically when an original Xbox title is played on the 360 console.
Download the update. Download the update by visiting the Xbox support page and opening the zipped file once it is on your computer. If you are using Windows XP, you can open the zipped file as if it were a regular folder. If using an older version of Windows, you will need to use a program to unzip the file first.
Burn a CD or DVD. According to the Xbox support page, the file must be the only one on the disc--and not in a folder or directory-- and must be named default.xex to operate properly. Insert a blank CD or DVD into your CD or DVD burner and burn the file you've downloaded. Remove the disc and place it in the Xbox 360 and select 'Continue' once the program begins automatically. Allow the program to complete and the system will restart automatically. It will be updated.
Request a disc from Microsoft. You can use the Xbox support webpage to order a disc from Microsoft that will update your console for you in case neither of the other options are viable. There is a fee, which the Xbox page lists as 'nominal,' to order the disc. Once the disc arrives, place it in your Xbox 360 and the program will begin automatically. Once it finishes, your system will restart and original titles will be supported.
Tips
According to Xbox's website, burning the program to a disc works best if DVDs are used. The site lists the DVDs as better that CDs, which are better that CDRW discs for updating the console.
Warnings
Not all original titles are supported by the Xbox 360, even with the update. Make sure the title is supported by visiting the Xbox support webpage.

Got an Xbox 360? I’ve had one for a pretty long time and I love it! Like all game consoles, there are occasional updates to add new features such as social networking tools like Facebook, Twitter, etc. or the ability to play different types of files.
In order to get these firmware updates for your Xbox, you normally would download them from Xbox Live. Xbox Live has two types of offerings, free and Gold Membership.
The free version gets you free game demos, game add-ons, games on demand, arcade games, avatars, and voice/text chat. The Gold Membership gives you Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, streaming Netflix, video chat, and Xbox Live parties.
In either version, you get firmware updates for your hardware to increase performance or update certain software features. With Xbox Live, when you sign in using your Gamertag, you are automatically notified of any new updates.
However, what if you do not use Xbox Live? How do you update your Xbox 360 without an Internet connection or a very slow Internet connection?
There are two ways to do this: either copy the update to a USB flash drive or download the update to your computer and then update your Xbox 360 console.
Method 1 – Download Update to Flash Drive
First, connect up a USB flash drive to your computer and make sure it has enough free space on it. Also, make sure it’s formatted as FAT32 and not NTFS.
Next download the latest update for the Xbox from here. Just scroll down to the Copy to a USB flash drive section and click on the Download the Update file link.
It’s a little over 100 MB. Make sure to not change the name of the downloaded ZIP file. Once downloaded, go ahead and extract out the zip archive to the root of your USB flash drive.
Now all you have to do is take the USB stick over to your Xbox console, plug it in and then turn on the console. It will automatically start the update program. At the prompt, select Yes, update now.

When you see the Xbox Dashboard, that means the update has been completed! Pretty easy eh!
Method 2 – Copy Update to Disc
The second way is to simply download the update from the support.xbox.com link above and then burn the update onto a disc. Then just pop the disc into your Xbox console and the update will start automatically.
This method is useful if you have no access to the Internet. You can then burn a disc and give it to a friend or burn a disc at the office and apply the update at home, etc.

Those are basically the only two ways to update an Xbox that is not connected to the Internet! If you have any problems, post a comment here and I will try to help.
